The Proposal

The proposal came on Saturday 24th September. A beautiful cluster ring with small diamonds and a bended knee in the living-room, but that was enough. It had taken eight years, but finally he popped the question.

He managed to leave the receipt in the top of the box so i knew how much he spent and it wasn't much but that's not important. The important thing is that after 8 years of being together, going through financial problems and everything else, i'm finally going to pin him down long enough for him to say I DO and make it official.

Its not just about getting my parents off my back, or proving to everyone that he's willing to make that commitment; its about putting two fingers up to everyone that said it would never work. There's a six year gap that seemed much bigger when i was just nineteen and he was twenty five and living 200 miles away from me. It took two years of travelling up and down the country until he told me one day he was moving up to be with me whether i liked it or not. My other half has always had a funny twist on romance, but it suits us both so well.

Here's hoping I don't turn into a bridezilla and try to stab him in the eye with a pair of scissors because he wont wear a cravat or something. I shall try to be reasonable and less obsessed than i tend to get over these things and just organise a wedding that will be simple, beautiful and a day to remember
